Trompe l’oeil

Trompe l’oeil

Trompe l’oeil or the art of fooling the eye with the illusion of tridimensionality on a two-dimensional image. That is the technique used in this illustration with objects related to the Portuguese king Carlos I (1889-1908), an oceanographer, bird watcher, farmer, photographer, and painter, better remembered for his legacy as a scientist and artist, than for his skills as the country leader.
