Marine Intertidal Zone Biodiversity
2010 was the International Year of Biodiversity. The Pavilion of Knowledge, a large science center in Lisbon, celebrated with all day events and exhibits. My large mural showcased a marine intertidal zone on the Portuguese rocky shore, identifying the different organisms that live there and distribute themselves according to the proximity to the water.
This was a pilot project for promoting accessibility to blind people. The mural and each individual organism illustration were designed a second time, using just lines and solid colors, to be reproduced in thermal printers and become raised-line illustrations.
