The book Augmented Reality in Museum Exhibits: User Experiences is the 13th volume in the museum studies collection published by Caleidoscópio in collaboration with the Portuguese Directorate-General for Cultural Heritage. I was truly honored that my Ph.D. dissertation joined this collection, side by side remarkable thesis and authors, and thankful to the editors for the support and revisions. My work is thus officially published in English (thesis format) and in Portuguese (book format) and hopefully makes a valuable contribution to the understanding of museum visitor experiences with technology.
The book is now for sale at the stores of Portuguese museums and palaces, and in selected bookstores. A formal book release ceremony will be held in June of 2019.

I am also grateful for the insightful comments and discussion promoted by the jury at the defense: Professor Pedro Casaleiro, Professor Ana Delicado, Professor Nuno Correia and Professor António Coelho. A new post for the Visual Nature column at Visual Loop. Read it here and below.
Reconstructing Ourselves
A visit to the Hall of Human Origins at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History (NMNH) makes us come across eight heads, each inside a display case. They are tridimensional reconstructions of hominid heads, eight different species that represent the current knowledge about human ancestry, from 6-7 million years ago to the first records of our own species. Each of them gaze at the viewer with a bone chilling liveness. (more…)
