Adventure of the Earth
The history and evolution of our planet are the subjects of the exhibit Adventure of the Earth that was on display at the National Museum of Natural History and Science, in Lisbon, Portugal, for 13 years. Along the 100m (328 ft) long room, a timeline translates space into time – 1 meter equals 50 million years – and features over 20 illustrations of past landscapes and geological phenomena that characterized Earth during its life of 4600 million years.
Right at the entrance of the exhibit, two large vertical panels feature the Milky Way and a sequence of steps in the formation of our solar system. I worked closely with the consultant astrophysicist for the exhibit and other expert sources such as the Galaxy Map. Another contribution to the exhibit was the design of a cabinet representing a phylogenetic tree with real specimens from the Museum collection.
